Covered with green indoor-outdoor carpeting since the 1960's, (and who knows what embedded in it over the past 40 years – ugh!), one of the first jobs that we tackled was the kitchen floor.
After working our way through the carpeting, we found linoleum.
Tearing through linoleum revealed the layers of newspapers. Reading headlines, advertisements, comics from the 1960's was compelling and a pleasant diversion from the task.
Huge gaps between the floorboards were filled with wood putty.
More surface prep prior to painting.
The master decorator, KM Inc designed a two toned floor.
Here are the photos that are the nearest to the completed look.
Having used red duct tape to create the boundary between the blue and yellow paint, we decided we wanted a narrow red strip painted between the 2 colors. This was done by our detail artisan, JEM.
I am still searching for the completed project photos. We were satisfied with the end results and should the missing photos turn up they will be posted.
